In 2013, Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope became the first major Hollywood film to be dubbed into a Native American language when it was released in Navajo. The project translated all dialogue from the 1977 sci-fi classic into Diné Bizaad, resulting in a complete Navajo-language version of the movie. This marked the first time a major motion picture was dubbed in any Native American language, not just subtitled or partially translated.
