O Brother First Digital Color

In 2000, the Coen brothers’ film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" became the first feature in Hollywood to undergo complete color correction by digital means. The production team scanned the entire film into a computer and used digital grading to replace the natural green landscapes with the movie’s distinctive dusty, sepia-toned palette. This process allowed them to give the Depression-era South a stylized, storybook look that traditional photochemical methods could not easily achieve.
