Samuel B Roberts Deepest Shipwreck

USS Samuel B. Roberts, a United States Navy destroyer escort sunk in the Battle off Samar in October 1944, is currently the deepest shipwreck ever discovered. Explorers located its wreck in the Philippine Sea in June 2022 at a depth of about 6,895 meters (22,621 feet), confirming it as the world's deepest identified shipwreck. Although still undiscovered, the World War II Japanese cruiser Suzuya is believed to rest around 8,400 meters (27,600 feet) down, which would make it one of the deepest shipwrecks on record at more than twice the depth of the Titanic.
