Between 1995 and 2010 Christian evangelists produced a television series called Bibleman, which featured 32 live-action episodes and 26 animated episodes. It was built around a superhero who uses the power of God to fight villains. The premise put explicit proselytizing at the center of a costumed action show. The series became notorious for its quality, and some viewers floated a theory that it was deliberately made to discredit Christian proselytization.
