Cancer's Ancient Origins Revealed

Around 3000 BC, ancient Egyptians documented cancer on a papyrus that described visible tumors and surgical removal techniques. Centuries later, Greek physician Hippocrates studied the disease and named it "karkinos," meaning crab, for the tumor's spreading shape. His terminology became the root of the modern word "cancer."
