Around 1750 BCE in ancient Babylon, a merchant named Ea-nasir sold a shipment of low-quality copper ingots to a customer named Nanni and added insult by mistreating Nanni's servant. Furious, Nanni carved his outrage into a clay tablet, demanding better goods and respect for his messenger. Archaeologists later uncovered this letter, along with several others aimed at the same shady dealer, making it the oldest written customer complaint in history.
