Biblical Unicorns Were Aurochs

In the King James Version, the Bible mentions "unicorns" several times, but that's actually a mistranslation of the Hebrew word re'em. Ancient translators rendered re'em as monokeros (one-horned) in Greek, then unicornis in Latin, and finally "unicorn" in English, though re'em more likely referred to a powerful wild ox or aurochs, not a mythical horse. Over time, modern Bible versions corrected this, translating re'em as "wild ox" or "wild bull" to more closely reflect the original animal.
