Gallagher Brothers' Watermelon Lawsuit

Gallagher Brothers' Watermelon Lawsuit

Comedian Leo Gallagher, famous for smashing watermelons with his "Sledge-O-Matic" act, sued his younger brother Ron Gallagher in the 1990s. Ron had been performing under the name "Gallagher Too," leading audiences to believe they were seeing the original performer. A court ultimately barred his brother from using sledgehammers or any similar devices on stage, ruling that it constituted false advertising and unfair competition.
