Five Sullivan Brothers Lost Together

The five Sullivan brothers from Iowa enlisted in the U.S. Navy together after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Despite Navy policies discouraging family members from serving together, they requested to serve on the same ship, the USS Juneau. Tragically, all five died when the ship was sunk in the Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942.
