Extinct Falkland Islands Wolf

The Falkland Islands wolf, also known as the warrah, was the islands' only native land mammal. It was so tame that it would approach humans without fear, even swimming out to greet arriving boats. Settlers hunted it to extinction by 1876 because it was too friendly to run away, making it the first canid species to become extinct in recorded history.
