Essex County, New Jersey, Executive James Treffinger denied a permit for "The Sopranos" to film the episode "Pine Barrens" at South Mountain Reservation, citing the show's portrayal of Italians as corrupt. Ironically, Treffinger was later convicted and imprisoned for corruption.
