Medieval Aristocrats' Boiled Bones

In the Middle Ages, people in Europe would sometimes boil the bodies of aristocrats who died in distant lands to remove the flesh from the bones in a process known as "Mos Teutonicus." This process made it possible to hygienically transport their bones back to their homelands for burial.
