In the 1978 World Chess Championship held in the Philippines, Viktor Korchnoi accused a Soviet psychologist and alleged hypnotherapist, Vladimir Zukhar, of attempting to hypnotize him from the front row. To counter this, Korchnoi enlisted the help of two American Ananda Marga yoga specialists-currently out on bail for attempted murder-believing their meditative presence could neutralize the alleged psychological influence.
