Hale-Bopp's Dual Discovery in 1995

In 1995, astronomer Alan Hale and amateur stargazer Thomas Bopp independently discovered Comet Hale-Bopp. They immediately notified the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams, with Hale sending an email and Bopp dispatching a Western Union telegram.
