Gander: Canine War Hero

During the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941, part of the early Pacific campaign of World War II, Sergeant Gander, a Newfoundland dog serving with Canadian troops, heroically grabbed a live grenade and ran toward the enemy, sacrificing himself to save several wounded soldiers.
