Librarian Cat Outlasts Councilor

Librarian Cat Outlasts Councilor

In June 2016 in White Settlement, Texas, city councilor Elzie Clements led a 2-to-1 vote to evict Browser, the library cat, arguing that "City Hall and city businesses are no place for animals" (the motion stemmed partly from allergies and a council worker's puppy policy complaint). Browser had been adopted as a librarian in October 2010 and outlived Clements-who died in 2022-while Browser was still reported to be alive and on duty as of 2023.
