Radioactive Fiesta Ware Dishes

In 1944, the Homer Laughlin China Company halted production of its Fiesta red dinnerware after the U.S. government requisitioned the uranium oxide used in its glaze for the Manhattan Project. The plates, which were mildly radioactive, returned in 1959 using depleted uranium, and the company faced little public backlash for use of uranium.
