Maria Restituta Kafka, an Austrian nun, was beheaded by the Germans in 1943 during World War II. She refused to remove crucifixes from her hospital and spoke out against the ruling party's oppression. Despite being offered freedom if she left her convent, she chose to stay and was killed.
