Darker-skinned individuals require more sunlight to produce vitamin D. In an experiment, a light-skinned person experienced a 50-fold increase in vitamin D concentration after 8 hours of sunlight, while a dark-skinned person saw no change. They needed 5-10 times more sunlight exposure to achieve a 30-fold increase.
