Madagascar's Ancestral Origins

A small group of no more than 30 women initially settled Madagascar. These women are the ancestors of all native Malagasy people today. Population Stats: Genetic studies suggest these founding women arrived from Southeast Asia around 1,200 years ago, and their lineage now links to over millions of people across the island.
