The Flying Nuns of Argentina

In 1976, Argentina’s military dictatorship kidnapped two French nuns who were helping families of disappeared dissidents. They were thrown into the sea from a plane. Regime officials cruelly referred to them as “the flying nuns,” referencing the American sitcom starring Sally Field.
