Florence Created Dowry Investment Fund

The Black Death caused dowry inflation in medieval Florence. To solve the problem, the government established a public dowry fund: when a girl turned five, her family deposited money into the fund, which accrued interest at about 10% annually and could be withdrawn when she married.
