Bison Massacre by Design

As many as 30 to 60 million bison once roamed the North American plains. Tragically, that number plummeted to just 1,000 before conservation efforts helped the population recover to around 500,000 today. The U.S. government had actively encouraged bison extermination to starve Native Americans and force them onto reservations.
