Apes Ate Separately On Set

While filming Planet of the Apes in 1967, the cast self-segregated in a strange, almost method-acting way. Actor Charlton Heston observed, "The chimpanzees ate with the chimpanzees, the gorillas with the gorillas, the orangutans with the orangutans, and the humans off by themselves."
