Water Dropwort

This deceptively pretty plant, found in temperate zones, is highly poisonous and causes death by respiratory failure. Victims often die with a fixed grin-known as the "sardonic smile." Believed to be the "sardonic herb" used in ancient Sardinian executions, it was once used in rituals to kill the elderly or criminals.
