Tour de Nesle Royal Scandal

In 1314, the Tour de Nesle affair erupted into scandal when the daughters-in-law of King Philip IV were accused of adultery. The women were imprisoned, and their lovers were executed. The emotional toll may have hastened Philip's death just months later and is believed to have contributed to the events that sparked the Hundred Years' War.
