San Diego’s Space Shuttle Hoax

On April 1, 1993, a San Diego radio station falsely reported that the space shuttle Discovery would make an emergency landing at the local airport at 8:30 AM. The April Fools' hoax caused massive traffic jams as over 1,000 people rushed to witness the nonexistent landing.
