Apartheid-Era Airport Sign Change

In 1959 Apartheid South Africa, authorities at Johannesburg Airport replaced the words "European" and "Non-European" with "Whites" and "Non-Whites." The change occurred because American travelers often used the "Non-European" doors to differentiate themselves from Europeans.
