Deadliest U.S. Aviation Disaster

One of the deadliest aviation accident in U.S. history occurred in 1979 at O'Hare Airport in Chicago. American Airlines Flight 191, a DC-10 passenger plane, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all 273 people on board. In response, the FAA immediately banned all DC-10s from flying in U.S. airspace pending an investigation.
