WWII Bombing Created 110 Ponds

In 1944, the American Air Force bombed the Hasselt train station in Flanders. The bombs that missed created a network of craters in the nearby grasslands, which have since become over 110 ponds. These ponds now support a diverse range of aquatic species, including some of high conservation importance.
