Camille’s Deadly, Unbreathable Rainfall

During Hurricane Camille in 1969, rainfall in Virginia became so intense that birds drowned in trees, and people had to cup their hands around their faces to breathe. According to the National Weather Service, the storm produced the maximum possible rainfall meteorologists believe is theoretically achievable.
