Hurricane Hunters Track Storm Eyes

Since the 1940s, the U.S. government has been sending special planes into the eyes of hurricanes to track their paths. These planes fly through storms continuously, collecting data that provides the only precise way to locate the storm’s eye—a process known as "fixing the eye."
