Captain Knox's Exotic Herb Discovery

Captain Robert Knox (1641-1720) of the British East India Company endured 20 years of imprisonment on the South Asian island of Ceylon. Upon his escape, he purchased a "strange intoxicating herb" previously unknown in Europe. Today, we recognize this herb as Cannabis Indica.
