The Addis Ababa Massacre (1937)

In 1937, during the Italian occupation of Ethiopia, two men attempted to assassinate the Viceroy. In retaliation, the Italian army and civilians went on a killing spree. They burned down houses and killed an estimated 20% of Addis Ababa's ethnic population, including Ethiopians sympathetic to their rule. To this day, Italy downplays this massacre.
