In 1995, Babani Sissoko, a con man from Mali, deceived the manager of the Islamic Dubai Bank by claiming he had magical powers to double any amount of money through black magic. Over three years, the manager wired him more than $200 million. Later, the United States prosecuted Sissoko for an unrelated crime, resulting in him serving only half of a 43-day sentence. He paid $1.25 million in fines using the money he had defrauded from the bank.
