After over a year of editing, the 1998 war film The Thin Red Line shrunk from its original five hours to three and a half hours. The film completely trimmed the performances of actors like Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Sheen, and Gary Oldman, while reducing others like George Clooney to cameos.
