French Town Hallucinations From Bread

In 1951, over 250 people in Pont-Saint-Esprit, France, suffered hallucinations, madness, and illness after eating contaminated bread. The incident, which caused seven deaths, was later attributed to ergot, a fungus found in rye flour.
