Counterfeiter Eluded Capture Decade

A senior citizen named Emerich Juettner, also known as "Mister 880" within the Secret Service due to his case file number, eluded capture for ten years from 1938 to 1948. He used poorly made counterfeit $1 bills, including one that misspelled "Washington," to support himself. He used the fake bills sparingly, only one at a time, and never at the same location twice. Eventually, authorities caught him and sentenced him to 4 months in prison.
