Hadrian’s Slave Requests Eye Back

The 2nd-century Roman Emperor Hadrian, during a fit of rage, once stabbed a slave in the eye with a pen. After calming down and feeling remorseful, he called the slave and offered him anything as compensation. The slave replied, "I just want my eye back."
