In 1881, when Billy the Kid, an infamous outlaw of the American Old West, learned Joe Grant, a gunslinger seeking fame, was coming to kill him, he sabotaged Grant's revolver. Grant attempted to shoot Billy in the face, and when the gun did not go off, Billy killed Grant.
