Original Show Name and Setting

The original plan for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" included the name "It's Always Sunny on TV." The characters were supposed to be actors, so this title made sense. FX acquired the show with the stipulation that it should not take place in California or New York. Consequently, they changed the setting to a bar in Philadelphia, but they couldn't think of a better name, so they went with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
