Newton, Halley, and "Principia"

Although impressed by "Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica," the UK's science academy couldn't publish Isaac Newton's book because it was nearly bankrupt from funding "The History of Fish." Fortunately, scientist Edmond Halley financed the printing.
