Archbishop Damaskinos's Response

When the Nazis threatened to execute Archbishop Damaskinos of Greece for speaking against the deportations of Greek Jews, he replied, "According to the traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church, our leaders are hanged, not shot. Please respect our traditions."
