Samsung has the capability to remotely disable its TVs equipped with a "Television Block Function." When connecting to the internet, the TV cross-references its serial code with Samsung's servers and ceases functionality if there's a match. Samsung employs this feature to prevent cargo theft and unauthorized retail.
