Sphinx's Burial and Unveiling

The Sphinx, constructed around 4500 years ago, was buried in sand approximately 400 years after its completion. In 1400 B.C., Thutmose IV attempted to excavate the Sphinx but only succeeded in uncovering its front paws. It remained largely buried until 1887 A.D., enduring nearly 4000 years of obscurity.
