In 1983, rather than litigating against Marvel for alleged plagiarism of his short story "Soldier from Tomorrow," Harlan Ellison reached a settlement with Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter. The agreement entailed Ellison receiving a lifetime subscription to all Marvel publications.
