Gaming Obsession Leads to Tragedy

A tragic medical case emerged when a 25-year-old man, identified as DC, was rushed to the emergency room after collapsing at an internet cafe. He had been playing video games nonstop for a staggering 73 hours. Upon arrival, paramedics were performing CPR in a desperate attempt to revive him, but it was already too late. DC was pronounced dead on arrival, leaving medical professionals puzzled by the sudden and tragic turn of events. DC's obsession with video games had taken over his life. Unemployed and living with his mother, he spent days on end at the local internet cafe, neglecting personal hygiene, sleep, and proper nutrition. His marathon gaming sessions lasted for days, during which he barely ate or drank anything, further exacerbating his already deteriorating physical condition.

The prolonged period of inactivity combined with dehydration and a lack of proper nutrition led to the formation of a blood clot in DC's legs, known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). When he finally stood up after hours of gaming, the clot dislodged and traveled to his lungs, causing a life-threatening condition called acute massive pulmonary embolism. This led to a sudden collapse and cardiac arrest, ultimately resulting in DC's tragic demise.

His case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of excessive gaming and sedentary behavior. Internet gaming disorder is a recognized condition that can have devastating consequences if left unchecked. Moving forward, it's crucial for gamers to prioritize their health and well-being. Taking regular breaks, staying hydrated, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle are essential for preventing similar incidents.
