Forty Elephants: All-Women Crime Syndicate

The Forty Elephants, or Forty Thieves, was an all-women crime syndicate in London in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that specialized in shoplifting and pretending to be maids, robbing wealthy families who hired them.
