River Phoenix's Fatal Overdose

Joaquin Phoenix's older brother, River Phoenix, known for his roles as a child actor in movies such as "Stand By Me," tragically died of an overdose while attending a concert with Joaquin on Halloween in Los Angeles in 1993. River Phoenix passed away just before he was set to film his role as the interviewer in "Interview with the Vampire." The part was subsequently recast with Christian Slater, who donated his earnings to Earth Save and Earth Trust, two charities favored by Phoenix.
