Chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen intentionally plays non-book "inaccuracies" during the opening phase of a chess game, moves that he knows aren't the best, in order to force the game into a non-book position. This strategy compels his opponents to think for themselves instead of relying on memorized opening theories.
